Pregnant??

Hey everyone, it has been a long time since I have posted anything, sorry about that! This last year has been crazy to say the least, mostly because we have welcomed a cute little baby boy into our family! Things are just starting to calm down, he is 4 1/2 months old now, and his big sister is a very helpful 3 years old. Maybe I can get an hour to myself now?? Lol!!

Anyway, when I found out that I was pregnant, I was familiar with a few of the oils that you probably should avoid at that time, because they might cause things like early contractions, or sometimes even miscarriage. Of course I did not want to take a chance that anything would go wrong by using an oil that I didn’t know the effects from. This is why I ordered Gentle Babies Essential Oils and Natural Remedies for Pregnancy, Childbirth, Infants and Young Children from Amazon. This book pretty much tells you what oils are safe during pregnancy and which ones to avoid. It is also a great reference for what to use on and with babies and kids.

Fortunately,  the only symptoms I had to deal with this time were about 4 weeks of all-day nausea. Not that this was minor or fun in the least, but I took the advice from this book and added 2oz. of NingXia Red each morning before breakfast. For some reason it helped, and I could get through the day and was able to eat without feeling horrible. I still like to drink the NingXia every day, just to keep my immunity up and have continued energy throughout the day. Another thing that was really helpful with sudden bouts of ugh feeling was to just smell some peppermint right out of the bottle. Clears your sinuses, too! Bonus!

My advice for anyone that is not too familiar with oils, or maybe doesn’t want to take the time to research them to find out which oils would be great for your specific needs, try NingXia Red. It is a perfect place to start using oils because there are oils mixed in with the juice, and gives support for many different body systems. Just 1-2 oz. per day, how easy is that? 🙂 If you want to get some NingXia but have never ordered from Young Living before, they actually have a starter kit that comes with 2 bottles and 30 single-serving packets of NingXia Red, NingXia Nitro (which is NingXia with a natural energy boost!), and a bottle of Stress-Away essential oil! That is totally my favorite oil because just smelling it is like a vacation in a bottle! After ordering this starter kit, you can order anything else you like from Young Living using your wholesale discount! Woo hoo!

Check out just some of the benefits of this super-juice below!

December FREE STUFF!

Each month, Young Living offers free items you can receive with your order, just by ordering the stuff you would usually get! They have different rewards each month, and for the rest of 2015, one of the free things offered each month will be a 15ml bottle of oil!! I know I am a little late this month posting about the rewards, but this month has got to be the best free gift I have seen yet- you can get 2 bottles of oil, 30 ER points, AND an Everyday Oils Collection!!!!!!! This is the same set of oils that you got in your Premium Starter Kit! WOW!!! The total value of this month’s 300 PV promotion is over $250! Why not replace some of your oils you have used up, buy a few gifts, try a new supplement, and before you know it, you will get back almost as much as you have spent in FREE oils!!! I am so excited about this month’s promotion! You might want to hurry and place your order, because one of the items that was offered at the beginning of the month as part of the promotion has already ran out, so it was replaced with the 30 ER points. Don’t wait until the Everyday Oils kit is gone, too! :O

December

The gifts you will get with your order depend on how much PV you order each month. PV stands for Product Volume. Each item Young Living sells has a PV. The item’s PV is usually equivalent to the dollar amount of the item if it is a consumable (like oils or lotions). Some things have less PV than dollar amount, like diffusers. When you are viewing an item on the website, or in the product guide, the PV for each item is listed by the price. The free rewards items you can get each month start when your order is 190 PV. For me, this is not very hard to reach! :DThe reward tiers are 190, 250, and 300 PV. Sometimes the value of the rewards is over $100!!!!! When you place your order, the rewards you qualify for will automatically be added to your order, you do not need to add them to your cart, or put in any codes. You are also eligible to earn the rewards both using the Quick Order or Essential Rewards ordering! It’s that easy! Did I mention I love free stuff?

Thieves Oil- This Post is For Skeptics Only!

skeptics graphicSo, some of you out there might still be a little skeptical about the actual believe-ability, power, and true effectiveness of essential oils, even if you have tried them before. I have to admit, even after I first started using them and did see some results, I was still amazed when I tried a new one for a different use, and it actually worked! Lol! I know there are a lot of people who don’t believe in the power of oils at all, calling them “snake oils” or something similar. I feel really bad for them. Don’t knock it till you try it, right? Well, I personally know one in particular who has a lot of internal issues. They have seen many specialists, etc. and still don’t have things figured out. I gave them a sample of some oils and said, just try them, you might be surprised. I am pretty sure this person went home and threw those samples in a dark drawer. I mean, if you were suffering with something, wouldn’t you want to try anything to get some relief? I know I would, especially if what you were trying was completely natural and plant-based. But that’s just me. This person obviously doesn’t think like that.

Anyways, this post is for the skeptics like my friend. This post has pure photographic evidence that yes, the oils are real, and do work! I am not a doctor or scientist, but I do like some proof sometimes before I invest my time or money on something. So, I did a little experiment to showcase one of my favorite Young Living oils- Thieves. Why is it called Thieves, you may ask? Well, according to Young Living, the name comes from an old legend about four 15th-century French thieves who formulated a special aromatic combination composed of clove, rosemary, and other botanicals they used while robbing the dead and dying. When the thieves got caught, they were asked how they stayed healthy, and they divulged their secret. Thieves oil blend is crafted in the spirit of that legendary combination, and can be found in all Young Living’s Thieves products. Thieves oil’s biggest benefit is to support a healthy immune system.

What I did for my experiment is I took the bottom half of a hamburger bun. I dropped approximately 3 drops of Thieves oil at the bottom of the bun. I then put the bun in a ziploc baggie, with a damp paper towel behind the bun. I then stuck that baggie into my dark, warm pantry for about 2 weeks. Here are the photos:

Thieves experiment Hamburger bun with oil moldy bun paper towel mold

If those photos don’t tell a story, I don’t know what does. I think that the after photo from the experiment should say all it needs to about oils, Thieves in particular! I can’t make medical claims about what the oils can do, but if a hamburger bun doesn’t grow mold in the area with oils, I think you can relate that to real-life situations. 🙂

I love using the Thieves oil everywhere in my house, especially in the Thieves Cleaner that I posted about last week. This cleaner comes as a concentrate with the oil in it, all you have to do is mix it with water and clean everything! I also love the other Thieves products I have tried, such as the throat lozenges, toothpaste, and hand purifier! (find out how to make your own here).

Want to try your own experiments with Thieves? Go here to find out how to get some and show the skeptics in your life what’s up!

Try DIY Tuesday: Homemade Thieves Hand Purifier

leaves graphicHappy Fall, everyone! It is the first Tuesday in October, and here in AZ that means that you can officially say it’s fall- even though it usually doesn’t feel like it!

Well, with the fall season comes those pesky bugs we all dread. Whether the kids are back in school, the weather change is throwing off your co-workers’ or family member’s immune systems, or extra traveling during the holidays, we all need an extra boost of helpfulness to support our immune systems. I, like most bug-fearing people, would never be caught without some Purell in my purse. Applied after going to the grocery store, pumping gas, before eating a quick snack, you name it, I would clean it. I have become even more cautious after having my daughter and not wanting her tiny little immune system to become compromised from a random excursion out of the house.

Recently, I have been hearing in the news how some of the yukkiest bugs have now started to become immune to these alcohol and chemical “anti-bacterial” sanitizers and soaps because we are all using them constantly. What???!!! Sometimes you just cannot get to a sink to wash your hands with good ol’ soap and water, what is a desperate mommy to do? Continue reading

Try DIY Tuesday: Roll-On Sinus Buster!

Roll On Sinus Buster graphic

I have to say, this specific combination of oils is what totally convinced me that Essential Oils are the real deal! When I first learned about Young Living at an Essential Oils 101 class, I learned many uses for the oils that come in the Premium Starter Kit, but this combination was most interesting to me- Lemon, Lavender and Peppermint. The magical combination of these three, applied to your sinus areas on your face, as well as the back of your neck help with healthy sinus and nasal passage function during those trying times of year.

Here is a little more about each oil and what they can do:

  • Lemon includes naturally occuring constituent limonene (look up limonene in a Google search and read about how amazing it is for our bodies!). Lemon contains D-limonene, an antioxidant that has been linked to healthy immune system function.
  • Lavender is the “Swiss Army Knife” of Essential Oils and has at least 1000 uses! Adding it to lemon and peppermint just makes it all the better. Fun fact: Lavender can make a refreshing nasal irrigation rinse!
  • Peppermint supports focus and healthy cognitive function, supports the body’s ability to regulate it’s natural immune response, and supports the body’s respiratory system.

After I tried it for myself, I was amazed at how fast the oils work, as well as how long the effects of the oils last! Prior to using oils, I was stuck using traditional treatments to combat my sinus irritations every single day, and not just during the bad times of the year. After finding this oil blend, I have found success using safe, natural, plant-based oils that give me the relief I needed, AND I felt alert and ready for the day- I haven’t looked back since! Try DIY Tuesday: Homemade Thieves Foaming Hand Soap

Thieves foaming soap graphicYoung Living’s Thieves Foaming Hand Soap is great, but what do you do if you run out? Make your own, of course! 🙂 It is quick and easy, and also very economical. I love using Thieves oil in general because of its ability to support the immune system, as well at the great smell (smells like Christmas in a bottle!), which are two perfect reasons to use it to make soap! I keep this mixture in all of my bathrooms and the kitchen, and guests always ask me what kind of soap I have in the bathroom, because it smells so good! For an extra burst of fresh citrus scent, you can also add some orange or lemon oil! Woo hoo! 😀 Continue reading
