This summer, my family and I went on vacation to visit family in the Midwest. We went over the 4th of July holiday, and it was the perfect time to get out of the blazing heat of Arizona! One of the things we did while on vacation was watch fireworks sitting in a park next to the lake. While this was great weather, nice and cool and great to sit on grass instead of dirt, these conditions bring lots of unwanted little friends to the party. Fortunately, I knew this ahead of time and was sure to bring my homemade Bug Away! Spray with me! I LOVE this recipe, because it does the job without using any harmful, nasty chemicals! This means it is totally safe to use on my two-year old, as well as adults. It is even safe for pets! Awesome for those evening walks around the neighborhood during monsoon season! If you are unlucky enough to get a bite from a bug, this spray can be used on the bite after the fact, as well, to give relief. I have also heard that spiders do not like peppermint, so this spray could also be used around windows and doors as a fresh-smelling deterrent.
Bug Away! Spray
You will need:
- 1- 2oz. glass spray bottle (must use glass because of the citrus in the oils)
- Young Living Purification Essential Oil
- Young Living Peppermint Essential Oil
- Distilled Water
Fill your spray bottle almost to the top with distilled water. Add 10-15 drops of Purification oil, and 10-15 drops of Peppermint oil. Screw on the top, and shake, shake, shake! Spray all over arms and legs, and reapply if needed. Avoid face area. Make sure to shake the bottle before using, as oil and water does not mix and will separate.
